Amenities and Facilities

The college has a well-defined policy of augmenting infrastructural facilities as a catalyst for enhancing academic excellence. We abide by the policies and regulations made by K.L.E. Society, Belgaum which circulates budget estimates every year and sanctions the funds accordingly. In addition to the funds sanctioned by the management, the institution also utilizes development grants of UGC along with CPE funds, Dept. of Science & Technology (VGST), Dept. of Tourism, Govt. of Karnataka, Ministry of Textile and Govt. of India as per guidelines.

A committee is constituted and funds are allocated to all the departments and utilized judiciously for the creation and enhancement of infrastructure and learning resources.

Existing facilities are upgraded to increase efficiency. Constant monitoring of infrastructure has helped in the optimal utilization of the existing facilities.

The following initiatives have been taken to meet the growing needs:

  1. From the perspective of expanding new disciplines and changing global scenarios.
  2. State-of-the-art Dr.Prabhakar B. Kore research center with sophisticated and need-based equipment.
  3. In addition to the existing Commerce research center, plans are underway to establish research centers in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics departments in a phase-wise manner.
Classrooms

There are 55 well-ventilated classrooms with CCTV surveillance.

  1. There are 20 e-class rooms, 05 e-labs, 04 Smart Board and 01 Electronic interactive board.
  2. Wi-fi enabled campus for better connectivity.

Botanical Garden

The Campus has an elegant sprawling garden with a landscaping of exotic plant species. Plants are labelled with family botanical names, and their uses. Our garden is called as Campus Garden of Phytodiversity. An informative book is also launched depicting the flora titled Campus Flora 2015. Our college is a recipient of the best maintained campus award from the Horticulture department for 3 consecutive years.

A medicinal herb garden named ‘Dhanvantri’ is maintained in the campus which has 50 plants.

Herbarium

The Department of Botany has good collection of Herbaria collected by students and staff and arranged according to Engler and Prantle system of classification in the museum.

Vermi Bins
It housed in backyard of Department of Hotel Management. The Vegetable and kitchen-wastes collected are used as raw material for Vermi Composting. The processed vermicompost is used for manuring plants in the Campus.
Museums

Botany and Zoology Departments have State-of-the-Art museum with beautiful translites, rare fossil specimens, embryological specimens, stuffed animals etc.

Animal House

Ethically approved animal house in the backyard Chemistry Department has air conditioner, water heater and other facilities.

Specialized facilities and equipment for teaching learning and research etc

The specialized facilities and equipment available are:

  1. ICT-enabled teaching facilities.

  3. Trinocular Research Microscope with CCTV/LCD attachment
  4. UV visual spectrophotometer with Computer
  5. Stereo Zoom microscope
  6. Well-equipped AV Studio
  7. Computer-aided design lab (CAD)
  8. Oriental language lab
  9. State-Of-The-Art Dr.Prabhakar B.Kore research center with sophisticated and need-based equipment
  10. Commerce Research Centre with SPSS software
  11. High-end instruments like CO2 Incubator, Deep Freezer (-80˚C), Cold Centrifuge, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Machine with work station, Gel Doc Unit, Invitro scope etc. These facilities are used for Minor and major research and student Projects.
Sports

Indoor Game facilities:

Indoor games facilities like table tennis, carrom, and chess are provided with 260 Sq.m built-up area separate multi-gym facilities for boys and girls which includes special equipment like T-10-MotorizedTread Mill, DB-16, Elliptical Cross Trainer, EB-01 Elliptical bike, CTX3 Motorised Treadmill with Auto elevation Programme AC heavy Duty Motor, weight lifting, powerlifting equipments, etc.,

Outdoor Game facilities:

outdoor activities like throw ball, Netball, Athletics, Cricket, Hockey, Baseball, Handball, football, and Kabaddi are conducted in a playground with an area of 7502.80 sq.m.
Basketball, Volleyball, and Badminton Court facilities are available inside the campus.

Auditorium:

The college is equipped with 04 auditoria –Sharada Sabhangana(150 seating capacity), Asha Kirana (150 seating capacity) KLE Auditorium (350 seating capacity), and an open-air auditorium Shantala Rangamantapa which can accommodate 1000 seats.

Cultural activities

The cultural committee of the college ‘Niharika’ organizes 24 different interdepartmental competitions for the students every year in co-curricular and extracurricular activities in the open air and in other auditoriums.

The self-financed departments like BBA, FAD, BHM, and Computer Science conduct cultural fests and management fests which give a platform to showcase their hidden talents.

Public speaking and communication skills development

English Department conducted certificate courses on the Art of Public Speaking, Accent Training, and MNC etiquettes which enabled them to improve grooming and behavioral skills required for the profession thereby enhancing their prospects of placements in the Oriental Language Lab.

Yoga

A spacious yoga hall on our campus facilitates the students to practice yoga during their leisure time. A yoga teacher is appointed to teach relaxation techniques and asanas, which help the students and staff to improve concentration and to lead a stress-free life.

Health and Hygiene

Well-ventilated and clean classrooms and staff rooms, clean washrooms, hygienic disposal of wastes, Recycling of Kitchen and garden wastes into compost, regular housekeeping, constant supply of clean drinking water through Aero water cooler, beautiful garden that provides lung space are the facilities provided to students and staff and thereby creating a healthy and positive ambiance in the college.

Health Centre with full-time qualified doctors and nurses. A Satellite dental clinic on the campus offers services at concessional rates. It is equipped with all the necessary equipment required for First Aid.

There is a management policy guiding all the courses through different governing bodies which make major decisions based on the need for infrastructure and other facilities for academic growth. The college infrastructure has been constantly upgraded on par with the current trends by developing/augmenting the following facilities during the last four years.

The No. of classrooms has increased

  1. The traditional blackboards are replaced by electronic interactive boards
  2. The ICT facilities are augmented like e-classrooms, and e-labs to promote ICT-enabled teaching
  3. The No. of auditoriums is increased from two to three to facilitate the conduction of curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities.
  4. Digital scrolling display boards are installed at the entrance to notify the day-to-day activities of students and staff.
  5. Language labs are upgraded to oriental language labs which are optimally utilized by all language departments
  6. New UG and PG programs are introduced to provide need-based education

The facilities developed are optimally utilized as indicated below

  1. Optimum utilization of Infrastructure from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm.
  2. The multigym facility is open to all from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm.
  3. Classrooms are used for conducting certificate courses in French, German, NGO management, music training, and personality development programs.
  4. Classrooms are used for conducting weekend classes of IGNOU and distance Education classes for Bangalore University and Karnataka State Open University.
  5. Labs are used for conducting and hosting intercollegiate science exhibitions, state-level exhibitions in association with Karnataka Rajya Vignana Parishat, and ‘Breakthrough’ a science society.
  6. Maximum utilization of labs for demonstration in science experiments for school children.
  7. College is recognized as a polling station by the election commission.
  8. The college acts as a nodal center and examination center for various competitive exams like COMED K, CAT, CET, MAT, GATE, DRDO, KPSC, UPSC, SLET, UGC, KPTCL, KAHE, ESI, KSRTC, BANK, BMRCL, Police, BSNL, BWSSB on Sunday’s and holidays.
  9. MCA labs are used by TIME management to conduct CAT online mock tests.
  10. Two e-classrooms and four e-labs are augmented to facilitate ICT-enabled teaching.
  11. Language lab is upgraded to Oriental Language Lab which facilitates to learning of other languages in addition to English.
  12. New equipment and teaching aids are procured by all the departments as and when the need arises.
  13. The college has introduced three new PG programs (Physics, Chemistry, and Maths) in addition to M.Com, MCA, and MTA and 2 UG programs (B.Com Tourism and B.A. JPP) during the last five years to offer need-based education for the benefit of the students and has enhanced infrastructure facilities accordingly.
  14. The infrastructure is also utilized to the maximum extent to carry out minor, and major research projects, student projects, and certificate courses.
