From ancient days there is an excellent contribution given by the Indians to the field of mathematics. Mathematics is growing independently without any influence of other subjects and it is the backbone for all science subjects.

The Department of mathematics was established in 1963 with vision “Pursue value based and quality education in mathematics” presently one of the pioneering departments of the institution that offers Post Graduate studies in Mathematics And Under graduate course with the following combinations many courses with Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, and Computer science subjects.

Objectives of the department

  • To enhance reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills of the students.
  • To cultivate a research culture in young minds.
  • To improve the abstract, logical & critical thinking of the students and develop their ability to reflect their work effectively.

Teaching Methods

Blackboard and chalk method, Charts and models, Computer aided teaching techniques, Power point presentations, Seminars and group discussions, Assignments.

The Department constitutes student projects, guest seminars, student seminars, and quiz etc., an integral part of the student activities. Currently faculty strength of the department is 04 with rich experienced from leading organizations and universities.  Faculty members are attended International/National/state Seminars/workshop/ conference and presented the research papers.  Faculty members are also published their research papers in reputed International journals.

Course design

Two years are spread over four semesters with mid semester and end semester examinations. In the first two semesters, focus is on the basic papers in Mathematics like Algebra, Analysis and Topology with basic applied papers like Differential Equations and Discrete Mathematics. In the final semesters, focus is on special papers and skill-based papers. Apart from the usual curriculum, knowledge of computer programming will be given in each semester.   


 50% in   B.Sc with Mathematics as one subject

  • Bachelor of Science( B.Sc) in Physics, Maths, Computer Science. (PMCs)

Eligibility:       Pass in 2nd PUC / ( 10+2) Level.
