The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), which monitors teacher training, has granted permission to the KLE Society’s S. Nijalingappa College, Rajajinagar, Bengaluru to commence a four-year integrated B.A.-B.Ed. programmes under Section 14(3) (a) of the NCTE Act.1993. The programme is approved by NCTE and Government of Karnataka. It is further designed according to UGC and NCTE guidelines to maintain the quality of education imparted by students.

The programme is also, affiliated to Bengaluru City University, Bengaluru.

Scope:

The course aims to integrate training of education in arts and science.

• General studies comprising Arts and Education leading to produce trained teachers.
• Foundation of arts education, pedagogy of secondary school subjects, participative learning related to tasks and functions of the teacher.
• The content balance between theory and practical, coherently integrating components of the program representing a wide knowledge-base required for a secondary school teacher.

Integrated B.A-B.Ed. is a four-year undergraduate programme based on the CBCS/NEP pattern. The programme initiates in-depth knowledge of different subjects of Humanities including Political Science, History, Geography, Economics, English and Hindi/Kannada languages to students along with their graduation in Education as well. The programme is designed according to NCTE guidelines to prepare competent teachers for nation-building.

The program is more flexible by offering various electives. Enhancing professional abilities and personality development. The program provides knowledge to empower them with problem solving skills. At the end of four years students complete their graduation both in arts and in Education. ICT, subject foundation, skill development and trans-disciplinary courses are part of the curriculum to enable student-centric educators. The program includes internship, practice teaching in schools and all-round personality development.

Eligibility:

• Pass in the Pre-University examination of Karnataka/ CBSE Senior Secondary examination/ or an equivalent examination with 60% marks.
• Students applying for BA-B. Ed. must have studied English, Regional Language and any two subjects, viz. History, Geography, Economics, Psychology, Education, Commerce, Business Studies, Political Science and Sociology, at PUC/10+2 level.
